Natural Wonder of the World

Custom Experience

Victoria Falls is the perfect place to begin or complete your safari travels and experience one of the wonders of the world! There are a variety of activities and an amazing array of camps and lodges to fit your preferences.

Victoria Falls, or the local name Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders), is twice the height of Niagara Falls and is the world’s largest waterfall because of the combined length and height that result in the largest sheet of falling water in the world. The falls can be seen on foot with a guide or in the air by microflight or helicopter.

Where to Go

The falls are a part of the Zambezi River and sit on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. You can visit the falls from both sides of the border but your preferred activities and the season of your travels will help decide which will be the best match.

Zimbabwe has about 75% of the falls on their side of the border so the best viewing of the falls is usually done from Zimbabwe. You will have a zoomed out view of the falls and be able to take in the enormity of this wonder of the world. Zimbabwe has many options for lodging and there is something for everyone whether you want a luxury hotel or just a comfortable place to lay your head after an invigorating day of activities.

Zambia has approximately 25% of the falls but you are able to get closer to the falls and feel their full force. You will hear the water crashing down and feel the mist pouring over you as it splashes back up. We recommend a bathing suit or a poncho for this tour because you may get wet on the Zambia side.

No matter which side you stay, you can always cross the border and view the falls from either side. Visas are easy to obtain at the border and your guide will make the process seamless and hassle free.

Things To Do

When to Go

What you can see and do at Victoria Falls is dependent on how much water is flowing over the falls at any given time. The best time to see the full force of the falls from either side is from March to August. The falls will have plenty of water and you will be able to do most activities in the area. If you are also planning a safari before or after your trip to Victoria Falls then you would want to travel from May to September. Or you can join our Emerald Safari trips in March and have a very unique safari and also stop by one of the wonders of the world when there are fewer people there. October and November are not advisable because that is low water season and it can be very dry and hot. The Zambia side of the falls are often dry at that point in the year and the Zimbabwe side has much less water as well.
